Taigh-Beann, the ‘House in the Mountains’, (previously The Climber's Cottage) in Tarbet was my father's home until a few years ago, so it has lots of personal touches. My father loved the area, and was was a member of the Lomonds' Mountaineering Club and in his heyday enjoyed climbing in the 'Arrochar Alps'. The Cobbler and Ben Lomond were his favourite hills in the area, but he also loved Glencoe, Torridon and the Cuillins.
The semi-detached cottage, which has been in my family since it was built in the sixties, is now used by myself, family and friends as a well loved base from which to explore and enjoy the wonderful scenery around Loch Lomond, the Arrochar Alps, and Argyll. The cottage is situated in a very quiet cul-de-sac, well away from the main road, and there is ample parking.
The village of Tarbet has a lovely bay, from where you can take boat trips, just a few minutes walk from the house, and enjoys a particularly stunning aspect of Ben Lomond. It is also ideally situated for access to many wonderful parts of Scotland, with the drama of Glencoe, Oban, the Cowal Peninsula, Kintyre and the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh all within a few hours travel.
